The game engine and interface are adapted from FOSS-2MinuteDrill by ThomasPServo and its contributors. The source snapshot used for this site is commit 7783d51c7eab746fa1701d377ad64aeb7feac7a6. Its software is licensed under the MIT License, whose copyright and permission notice are retained with this distribution.
Changes for 2 Minute Drill Online include the site's visual presentation, responsive text and controls, supporting guides, accessibility refinements, domain metadata, privacy choices and analytics integration. The game retains a local-browser saving system and a play-outcome simulation based on historical football data.
nflverse play-by-play and game data
Starting situations, play outcomes and related historical football information derive from the nflverse data project. nflverse makes its data available under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International. See the project's play-by-play documentation for the public dataset's format and scope.
Real-game context is the starting point, not a promise that a simulated snap happened in the original game. The outcome library is used to generate a new finish for your chosen calls. Team and player names identify the historical context.
FTN Data via nflverse
Play classifications and charting also derive from FTN Data via nflverse. This material is available under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International. The FTN charting documentation describes the source.
The generated football files distributed in /data/ carry the applicable attribution and share-alike terms. A data summary is available in data metadata, with the play-call catalog, play library and scenario index. See the accompanying data notice before reusing the files.
Changes and interpretation
This site's distributed data has been adapted from the upstream generated files. Direct Next Gen Stats API-derived player speed and rating values have been removed. Player markers use neutral illustrative values and independently selected animation behavior. They are not real player ratings, exact tracking traces or a claim that every displayed grouping matches the original snap.
Win chances, call grades, coach resemblance and percentiles are outputs of the game model. They are estimates within this game. The percentile compares decisions with simulated strategies; it is not a live-player ranking or a professional coaching evaluation.
Typography
Big Shoulders Display by the Big Shoulders Project Authors and Libre Franklin by the Libre Franklin Project Authors are distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The fonts are served locally. Their original Big Shoulders license and Libre Franklin license accompany this site.
Format inspiration and trademarks
The independent daily games nfl2mindrill.com and 2minutedrill.app helped inspire the format. Their application code, artwork, player ratings and services are not used as this site's source implementation.
