A game of decisions
The score is close. Time is running out. You have a playbook and a few choices that can change the finish. That is the idea behind 2 Minute Drill: put the player in charge of the calls that matter in a late-game football situation.
There are no joystick controls to learn and no roster to collect. You read the score, clock, down and distance, then call the next play. The simulator handles the snap and gives you a fresh situation. When possession changes, the finish can ask you to make defensive decisions too.
One daily challenge, more fourth quarters
Daily gives players on the same local date a shared starting situation and one saved attempt in their browser. A result card records the finish and decision grades. The next daily game arrives at local midnight.
Survivor is there when one finish is not enough. It chains random fourth-quarter games into a run. A win increases your total, one loss ends the run, and a tie keeps you alive without adding a win. Personal statistics stay in the browser where you play.
History provides the starting point
The game uses historical football data for starting situations and a library of play outcomes. The original score and clock give the scenario its context; your decisions create a different path through it. You do not have to memorize the historical result to play.
Call grades are based on simulated win chance. Results include a simulated-strategy percentile, which describes the game's benchmark rather than a live-player leaderboard. On-field player markers illustrate a lineup and help explain the action. They should not be read as exact historical tracking or real player ratings.
Independent and open-source based
This site's game is adapted from FOSS-2MinuteDrill, an MIT-licensed implementation. The presentation, site content and integration have been adapted for 2 Minute Drill Online. The football data carries separate attribution and share-alike terms, explained on our Data & credits page.
The daily play-calling format was inspired by independent football games, including nfl2mindrill.com and 2minutedrill.app. This site operates independently from those games. It does not share their accounts, saves, results or leaderboards.
